UMCP aKDF EVENTS

UMCP aKDPhi attends, sponsors and participates in many events each year. Our events cover a wide range of aspects, including sisterhood, leadership, Asian Awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness, and more.

Sisterhood.
Sisterhood within our chapter and among chapters, both regional and national, is the most important part of being a sister of alpha Kappa Delta Phi. Events include sleepovers, potlucks, regional conferences, national convention, road trips, sisterhood weekends and retreats. We also strive towards kinship with fellow Greek organizations. As co-founders and members of the United Greek Council, we hold meetings and mixers with other chapters of the UGC.

Leadership.
Each member of our chapter feels it is important to be involved with outside organizations, in which many of our sisters hold leadership positions. We are active with the United Greek Council. Our chapter also initiates an annual campus violence awareness meeting, in memory of our dear sister, Valerie Zavala (SJSU aKDPhi).

Cultural Awareness.
Our sisters attend and/or participate in a wide variety of cultural shows, including the CCC culture show, UMBC's ASIA, APA1, FCA culture show, VSA Family Night, Panhellenic Council Block Show, and the Black Cultural Explosion. We work closely with other organizations on campus and off, and have also participated in several panels and charity events.

Service.
We believe it is important to reach out to a variety of causes. As our national philanthropy, Breast Cancer Awareness is one of our many passions for service. We observe breast cancer awareness month in October, participate in various breast cancer walks, pass out pink ribbons and flyers, and have raised hundreds of dollars for BCA/Susan G. Komen. In the past, we have also participated in Snack Pack Attack, helped out at food kitchens, tutored at the Chinatown Service Center, sent cards to the children's hospital... and one of our most memorable was sending goodies and letters to our 2 adopted brothers of the armed forces stationed in the Middle East.

Social.
There's no doubt, KDPhis like to have fun. We throw our annual ALLURE party every September and draw in huge crowds. We also host and co-host a myriad of social functions with fellow chapters of aKDPhi, and other Greek/campus organizations. aKDPhi RUSH is held twice a year at the beginning of each semester.
