From the far distant
past
The legendary, strongest warrior
Whose tale is passed down through this universe
-CHOUTOUSHI-
That fist could even crush planets
That radiance was said to shine upon even the darkest reaches of space...
(UCG manga/GB Colour game)
A Super Fighter, or Choutoushi, is a legendary
warrior, a force known of since ancient times past. The most powerful force of
good on two feet, a fighter is strong-willed but kind hearted; just but never
emotionless; brave to fight and brave to die. However, a Super Fighter can
survive most anything you throw at him, and even if his physical body gives up
the ghost it's unlikely his spirit will, for that undying will to defend is what
makes a Super Fighter what he is. It all goes up from there.
Any other questions? Or what if my question's not here?
A Choutoushi has increased speed, strength, and to some extent, endurance. They possess various powerful laser weapons, each capable of packing a punch large enough to shatter a planet. He is also capable of mastering the power known as Hyper Energy, which becomes present even in those close to the level of Super Fighter. Ultraman has exhibited a power called the Superior Power(?) which is able to transport anything anywhere. Only problem is, it takes a LOT of Hyper Energy to do so (incidents recorded require the energy of two people), and the manoeuvre drains him severely.
Train. Hard. And often. If the first chapter of UMSFL is anything to go by, and Ultraman began training himself right after his defeat by Zetton, the process takes about, oh, thirty years. Considering Ultrans can live up to a few million years, it's not that long a time. :) This intensive training includes sealing yourself in a tower full of Hyper Energy for 2 months, a process that would make roast chicken out of lesser mortals. Intensive training upon a Red Ultran with the Ultra Horns (more on these later) only takes one or two months to transform him into a Super Fighter, or at least get him close. As for who that Red Ultra is...ah, that would be telling. ;) Scroll down two questions.
Increased speed, strength, agility, beam powers in an Ultran. Most of the time the person doesn't even realise it! Power increases at the same rate as speed during a battle as well. After later increased training, Ultraman has been shown to be able to access the Specium Ultra Light Wave, his ultimate weapon, in non-Super Fighter mode as well--just a slightly less powerful version.
Anyone has the potential under intensive training (see above) but so far, only Ultran Super Fighters have been discovered. Ultraman is one, Ultraman Taro is another. Ultraman King, a legend in the ranks of all Ultrans, was also probably a Super Fighter in his youth. Ultra Father, Mefilas, Mazaron and the Yapool are some people who got close.
I guess it's safe to tell, since none of my visitors are megalomaniacal aliens bent on taking over the world--the keyword here is ENERGY. Hyper Energy in particular, I should think. In Super Fighter form, the fighter's energy is depleted very quickly, so a Super Fighter only has three minutes of energy to fight under most circumstances. His Colour Timer, if he has one, will begin to blink at the two-minute mark as a warning. Don't worry, though, there are certain devices and such that keep the energy at a good level. Examples include:
A) Ultra Horns |
|
|
Lucky Taro and Ultra Father! The Ultra Horns are said to be an unlimited source of energy to the fighter, constantly channeling Hyper Energy to the fighter's body. Taro's horns are usually small and don't extend above the top of his head, but as you can see, when he transforms into a Super Fighter they glow golden and grow to the proportionate size of Ultra Father's horns. Hmmm, does that mean U/F got closer to Super Fighter than we thought? ;) |
B) Ultra Crown |
|
|
A device equivalent in function to the Ultra Horns. As it turns out, while Ultraman was still waiting for reincarnation, he and King joined forces to invent it, and smelted/purified it within the Sun God her/himself as part of his third suit of armour. Should he take the band off, call out "Ultra Crown, form!" and place it on his head, it will transform into, well, this. Very stylish. :) |
C) Ultra Energy Amplifier (Chou Enerugii Zoufuku Souchi) |
|
|
Well, I suppose it's worth mentioning this although Demon Mefilas is not a Super Fighter! This was used against Comet Battle God Tsuifon when Ultraman was still unconscious in the anime after a prior battle with the entity. The device increases the user's power many times over, and Mefilas also gets transformed into a slightly more demonic entity--spiked shoulders, longer ears, claws... Unfortunately, a device is still a device, prone to damage, and the combination of high energy output and the wounded Mefilas pushing himself too far overloaded the device and it exploded, leading to Mefilas' eventual death. In short, do not use under injury!!! |
D) Delta Star |
|
|
Never mind Ultraman (that's his Super Fighter form in the anime), look at that shield! It is, as Ultra Father describes it, 'the legendary eternal life of space...Delta Star!' The Delta Star is a three-pointed (hence the name) light/energy shield centred around the Colour Timer, a very important piece of anatomy indeed for an UltraWarrior. (Any damage to it, Super Fighter or not, will mark his days) |
If your computer can read Japanese, you’ll be able to see
the script for each word below the translations. An analysis of each element in
the logo:
Urutoraman (ウルトラマン) |
: |
Ultraman. Say it fast and change the first 'r' to an 'l'. |
Chou 超 |
: |
Super or Ultra. This character pops up a lot in connection with Ultraman--Ace fought choujuu or Terrible Monsters (it literally means 'Super Beast' or 'Ultra Beast'). Choujin literally means 'super being' in Japanese. There's the Chou Enerugii Zoufuku Souchi (see above.). The Cantonese call the red and silver hero Chiu Yan (same meaning as choujin) and in Mandarin he is Xian Dan Qiao Ren (Salted-egg Superbeing, because of the eyes =_=) |
Tou 闘 |
: |
The character that forms the verb tatakau--to fight. There is another character equivalent to it, but its compound form is sen and comes closer to meaning 'war'. |
Shi 士 |
: |
This looks similar to the character for tsuchi (土/earth/ground) but it is used as an equivalent to the English suffix '-er' or '-ior'. Examples: heishi (兵土) or soldier, toushi (闘士) or fighter, senshi (戦土) or warrior, yuushi (勇土) or brave warrior--yuu(ki) is 'courage'. |
Geki激 |
: |
The character that forms the adjective hageshii--violent, fierce, powerful. This in effect makes gekiden actually mean something like 'battle legend'. |
Den
伝 |
: |
The first half of the word densetsu, 伝説, legend. |
