Wishes
Scott Sherman - 1.15.2003

Wishes uttered in the dark
Before one is whisked into the land of dreams;
Words of hope and loss,
Love and sorrow:
Heartfelt need for another's touch,
Another's presence.

Wishes and prayers
Heard around the world
As the dreamers fall to rest
In the place where wishes are unnecessary
And all prayers are granted:
Only in dreams for many unfortunates
Whose waking life is found lacking.
