![]() REAL LIFE ADVENTURES OF THE UNDERWATER STUNTMAN |
The simplest toys sometimes provide the best excitement
Nowadays, we are truly inundated with publicity
for
electronic gadgets which, it is said, will provide
hours of
excitement... until the batteries run out.
What is junk to
one person may provide endless entertainment
for another. Proving this point is this simplistic craft which is
nothing
more than a truck innertube.
The craft is thrown into the water, and cushions the
impact
as the Underwater Stuntman gracefully leaps into
it from the shore.
The plastic paddle spins the craft at a dizzying rate,
and
provokes a neighborhood dog. Now what do you think
is
the motivation behind the dog's rantings and ravings?
The shape or motion of the craft, or the color scheme of
the rider's whitewater wear? (It's really a motorcycle rain
suit but don't tell anyone)
While the standard safety
helmet may appear to offer
protection against the inevitable
encounters with motorized
watercraft, its real value lies in its
buoyancy. Shoes, gloves
and tear
resistant clothing is really what
protects the rider
shown here. The
neoprene hood under the helmet
offers thermal
protection as these pictures were taken during a spring flood.
