Dear Professors, Supporters and Friends,

We (Mr. Phan's friends and colleagues) would like to send you this letter together with our urgent appeal in order to help Mr. Tran Van Phan (born in 1967), a young teacher at a High school at Cam Lo, Quang Tri province, VietNam, who has been passing the very hard days to get his life from his fatal kidney disease.

His kidney disease is in the end stage and he is not able to last his life by the hemodialyses method any more (his life has been lasted for some years by this method). Hue Central Hospital has decided to give him an operation for a renal transplantation, which is planed in the end of 2002. This is the only way , with the hope that it will save his life. He will be transplanted one kidney of his brother and this is the last free-service-charge case at Hue Central Hospital with the help of doctors from Belgium.

The most important now is the expenses for the medicines used before and after the operation. Besides the normal used ones, he has to use the special ones to prepare for the operation. After that, he will use continuously many special kinds of medicines for many years in order to accept the new kidney for the prevention of graft rejection. The doctors say that the expense is at least 10,000 US dollars. His present circumstances is pitiful. His parents died at his early age. His brothers and sisters are very poor. He himself cannot get anything else except the salary of a Vietnamese high school teacher (about 40 USD/month)! The Health Insurance in VietNam nowadays can not cover for this case.

Thus Phan now indeed needs enthusiastic helps of all of you, near and afar! Please do him a favor! Please give him a hand to get him from the Death!. Your precious and in time help will be exchanged for the life of Phan, a young teacher with his full energy and ability!

We have made a homepage at the addresses: www.oocities.org/unghophan/english.html or unghophan.tripod.com/english.html to give you all the information about how he is getting on, to appeal the support, the way to support and the list of the supporters.
