In what was very trying conditions, we
played well in patches but our inaccuracy in front of goals was costly
yet again. With a final score of 4 . 10 . 34 drawing with Roskills 5 . 4
. 34 the score line says it all really. We did enough to win without
really stamping our authority on the game. Several senior players had a
case of the fumbles all day and at crucial times in the game also was
costly. But overall our lack of composure and option taking in front of
goal has been an issue every game so far this year. Being over generous
with handballs in the goal square and the reluctance to have a shot when
in range is a problem that we must rectify heading towards the finals.
The rugby boys played well on debut and Sharpy, Garters impressed again.
Glen covered ground well and again had many possessions. The loss of
Miggsy for 3-6 weeks was a blow. After all is said and done, we did not
lose and a draw is still points towards securing a top 2 place. We did
play some good run-on football and in most places outplayed Mt. Roskill,
we just didn't finish the job with kicking majors instead of minor
scores.
Next week......everyone bring their goal kicking boots.
