Serengeti
National Park
A trip to Tanzania is not complete without a visit to the infamous
Serengeti. Visitors who come in June or July might witness some of the
enormous herds on their Great Migration. Regardless of when you plan your
visit, the sights will astound you -- the endless grasses of the vast savanna,
lions lounging under the shade of acacias, a leopard feasting in the branches
of a sausage tree, stunningly beautiful sunsets. Game-driving in the Serengeti
is an experience not to miss. Click here to take a virtual safari in the Serengeti.

Ngorongoro Conservation
Area
Ngorongoro, located in the heart of Maasai country, has much to offer.
You can learn more about the Maasai by visiting a boma, hike on one of the
numerous Highland trails, visit Olduvai Gorge where the Leakeys discovered
ancient fossils, and tour the Olduvai archaeology museum. Perhaps the best
reason to visit Ngorongoro is for the safari game-driving on the crater floor.
Ngorongoro's diverse habitats support a wide variety of animals and birds,
from zebras and wildebeests to cheetahs, hippos, and the ever-fascinating
secretary bird. This is one of the few places you will have a good chance
of seeing the rare black rhino. The scenery in Ngorongoro crater is gorgeous
with a mixture of lakes, grasslands, and acacia woodlands set against a backdrop
of the immense crater wall.
Manyara National Park
The idyllic setting of Lake Manyara National Park is home to a variety
of animals, including unusual tree-climbing lions. With nearly 400 species
of birds, Manyara is a bird-lover's paradise. The diversity of flora and
fauna is astounding, making a visit to one of Tanzania's smallest national
parks well worth your time. It can be done as a day trip from Arusha, or
added to a multi-day safari.
Tarangire National Park
Tarangire, known for its large population of resident elephants as well
as its plethora of baobab trees, is a haven for a variety of animals, particularly
during the dry season when animals flock to Tarangire's permanent supply
of water. But Tarangire's vegetation makes it beautiful year-round, and you
are sure to see plenty of animals no matter when you come. The small size
and fewer safari vehicles allow visitors to truly experience the Tanzanian
wilderness.
Arusha National Park
Walk shoulder-to-shoulder among giraffes, watch abundant wildlife
on a drive through the park, overlook Ngurdoto Crater and the Mowela Lakes,
or climb a mountain. Extending from the base of Mt. Meru up the eastern
slope to the summit, Arusha National Park has it all. Located less than
an hour from Arusha Town, come to escape the city's hustle and bustle and
enjoy the beauty and diversity this incredible park has to offer. The most
accessible of Tanzania's parks, and the only northern park to allow visitors
the option of walking outside the confines of a vehicle (accompanied by an
armed park ranger), Arusha National Park makes for an excellent day trip
and a unique experience.
Gombe Stream
National Park
Gombe Stream, Tanzania's smallest national park, is one of the most well-known
as it is the site of Jane Goodall's groundbreaking research on chimpanzees.
Here, you can walk with a park ranger among chimpanzees and a number of other
primates. This incredible experience is well worth the journey to Lake Tanganyika
in western Tanzania.
Southern Parks
Safaris to Tanzania's southern national parks, Ruaha, Udzungwa,
Mikumi, and Selous Game Reserve, can also be arranged. These parks are less-frequently
visited, and therefore offer the chance for a more personal experience with
Africa's natural wonders.
