The Mountain Kilimanjaro
The majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, towering above Africa at a height
of 5895 meters, has the notable distinction of being the continent's highest
mountain. On a clear day the sight of Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak perched
above the clouds is truly awe-inspiring. Despite its astonishing size a
trek to the summit is quite possible and an opportunity you won't want to
miss. One of our expert guides will lead you through Chagga farmland and
a montane rain forest to the moorland zone, where you will feel as if you
have entered another world. The open landscape here affords spectacular
views of the peaks above you and Moshi Town below. After climbing up through
the alpine zone you will reach the arctic zone, walk along the crater rim,
and summit on Uhuru Peak. The trek is arduous but you do not need to be an
experienced mountaineer to acheive this impressive feat. Trekking up Mt.
Kilimanjaro is our specialty and we are happy to provide any assistance we
can as you acclimatize and make your memorable journey to the summit. Click
here to take a virtual trek up Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The Mountain Meru
The striking granite slopes of Tanzania's second-highest mountain
are easily viewed from Arusha Town. But the mystical, lush, tropical
montane forest can only be experienced on a trek to the summit. Mount
Meru's 4566 meters make it Africa's fifth-highest peak. Your challenging
climb to the top will culminate with an exilerating ascent along the ancient
volcano's razor-thin crator rim. Your reward is a sight unmatched in Africa:
to the east, a spectacular view of Kilimanjaro rising above the clouds,
and to the west, the sight of Maasai country strentching as far as the
eye can see -- to the horizon and beyond.
The Mountain Oldonyo Lengai
Known to the Maasai as the "Mountain of God," Oldonyo Lengai is
a volcanic mountain located within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Spend
the day climbing to the crater rim and take in breathtaking views of Africa's
Great Rift Valley. Less well-known to travelers, this active volcano provides
the unique experience of an up-close and personal encounter with red-hot
lava flows.
