Yes, as you will have noticed on the homepage, a new website is under construction as you read and will be online within the next week. So keep checking back! Any suggestions for the website to be emailed to urbanzencorporation@mail.com. yourz
No need to worry ... we are back. And just as you thought it couldn,t get any better, a new CD will be available V soon! Yes, the Zen have been taking time out writing and a whole new batch of tunes and are currently in the studio putting the final touches to the recordings. Look out for some dates soon as Urban Zen Corporation will be causing a stir on the live scene yet again with one or two new faces! Thats all for now. Cheers
Phew!!! What a day Abbey Park was. After walking/
staggering on stage amidst a blaze of glory, drizzle and technical problems,
we managed to crank out(?) a blinder of a set albeit until the metaphorical
plug was pulled due to time restrictions. Playing as the sun went down
to a sizeable, engagingly enthusiastic crowd all up for entertainment will
be a hard one to follow. To the middle aged man in front of the stage, off
his face on party powder (or was it Cider?) on his knees worshipping us; I
shall never forget you!!!
September: We should be back at 'The venue of the Gods'
i,e Karns in Hinckley towards the end of September and around the same time
should be a date at The Maze Nightclub in Nottingham. (Home of the 70:30
statistic!)
Our next big gig will be Abbey Park Festival on August
11th. We'll be on the Main Stage at 8.30pm. It will be an improvement
on our last years slot (5.00pm on "the other stage!") and reflects
the progress made in the short space of 12months.
June: We are currently taking time out to write new
material which will hopefully be unveiled at Abbey Park Festival on August
11th and at Karns in Hinckley on July 13th.
We are also talking to some interested record labels who have expressed an
interest in our "stuff".............will keep you posted!
Also in production have been the videos for three (3,
count 'em) of our tracks; Urban Zen, Terminal Loop and Drum 'n Bass. These
should be available to download in the not too distant future. 23/07/01 Click
here to view. (You'll need Quicktime to View)
We also had Terminal Loop and Urban Zen played to a
selection of A&R at a showcase recently of which we received an
extremely enthusiastic response coupled with arrangements being
provisionally made for several more gig dates.
If you want to see us live (well almost!) on the TV,
then watch Sky Channel 139 (Granada M*n & M****s) on Thursday 26th &
Friday 27th and everyday the following week where you can see our recording
of Urban Zen, Terminal Loop and Synesthesia for showcase TV. Look out for
the interviews and the Mini Marshall!
Due to the unfortunate departure of Mr Ad Banaskewicz
(due to affairs of the heart), we have recruited a highly suitable
replacement in the shape of Mr James Townsend of 'Romanov Star/ coppers
helmet' fame. James brings to the band some fine grooves, a plethora
of interesting equipment (?) and a Bass Guitar once used by that fella out
of the Inspirals. What is it about bass players, why are they always
tall? (Relative to myself of course!) We wish Ad all the best and hope that
all works out the best for him in the future.
We are still in the process of laying down on (digital)
tape our considerable track repertoire which we will be releasing at a
future date in conjunction with our already released 5 track EP available by
Email and for sale at gigs, of which copies are in big demand.
April, May and June look set to be busy months for the
'Zen as we have number of dates in Leicester and after that we will be
taking bookings for gigs in London and the rest of the country.
Shortly after the beginning of the month we found
ourselves in discussions with a local label interested in releasing a Drum
& Bass mix of one of our tracks along with interest from several major
record labels.
On Saturday (21st April) we will be off to London to
record a set for a TV show showcasing new talent, scheduled for release in
the next couple of weeks.
April Started of with a gig at Karn's in Hinckley where
we played a blinder of a set in front of a packed house again after a
triumphant gig at the same venue two weeks previously. Images and
hopefully some video footage from the gig should be available soon to view
on our Image Gallery.
Kam, Fay, Steve and Matt took to the airwaves on the
(now defunct) enormously popular Demon FM for an interview at the beginning
of the month. In between banter Terminal Loop received it's first airing on
the wireless.
