Big Nose Kate's Saloon in Allen Street was once the Grand Hotel, the original building built in 1881. Among the famous and infamous guests were Lily Langtree, Eddie Foy, the Earps, Doc Holliday, the Clantons, and the McLaurys. On October 25, 1881, the night before Gunfight at the OK Corral, the Clantons and the McLaurys were guests here.

Big Nose Kate is believed to have been the first prostitute in Tombstone, Arizona Territory. However, her biggest claim to fame was the fact that she was also Doc Holliday's girlfriend. Kate had saved Holliday from the hangman in Fort Griffin, Texas, by breaking him out of jail. For this, Doc was eternally grateful, and the two traveled the West making money the best they could: Doc with his gambling, and Kate, well, with her womanly charms.
