On the canyon-slashed slopes and bottoms of the Pajarito Plateau are the ruins of many cliff houses and pueblo style dwellings of 13th-century Pueblo Indians. Proclaimed on February 11, 1916; transferred from Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, February 25, 1932.

Directions Visitors traveling North-South on I-25 take second Santa Fe exit (St. Francis) to Routes 84/285 West. Follow signs to Bandelier at every major junction.

Winter 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

After browsing the exhibit at the visitor center, I walkt the main loop (starting at the visitor center) that leads to Tyuonyi, an ancient village on the floor of Frijoles Canyon and further on to the cave dwellings.

If you wish to do more hiking, you'll find about 70 miles (112 km) of trails in within the monument's boundaries.
