Introduction Empty Vital information Empty Phil's log

This is the only place in the United States where four states come together at one place: Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. Here a person can stand in all four states at one time. The Four Corners Monument, located at an elevation of 5,000 feet (1,524 m) above sea level, makes for a perfect year round visit. The monument is a marker erected in 1912. The original marker was a cement pad. Today the monument is made of granite, bronze disc, and colored concrete with inserted metal plates of the great seal from each of the four states and includes the inscription Four States Here Meet In Freedom Under God. The monument stands on a tiny corner of each state.

Directions The Four Corners Monument is located one quarter mile west of U.S. Highway 160, 6 miles North of Teec Nos Pos, Arizona, and 40 mile Southwest of Cortez Colorado. The Four Corners area is all Native American lands. The Navajo Nation ranges into the states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah covering 25,000 square miles.

Visiting this place literally takes only a few minutes as there is, apart from the actual concrete monument, not much to see. The monument itself is barely recognizable when you stand next to it, but there's a small elevated platform that provides good view of the monument and its inscription. You will probably spend the better part of your stay here standing in line to get up to that platform. Four Corners National Monument
