Phil's visit to Hoover Dam

Date Sunday, September 24, 2000
Arrival 11:00 am
Departure 12:30 pm
Time spent 1:30 Hrs

This huge dam is certainly worth visiting, even if you choose not to join one of the guided tours. Just walking across the dam's crest and looking down to the power plant more than 700 ft (213 m) below you gives you a good impression of this structure size.

Notice If you intend to enter the visitor center, remember that you're not allowed to bring any bags with you - for security reasons. Apparently, this term is very popular whenever American authorities fail to come up with proper justification for tormenting citizens and visitors. Anyway, this ban on bags also includes camera bags and lunch boxes. So, if you wish to take pictures inside the visitor center or on any guided tours you might want to join (these tours start at the visitor center), you have to leave the camera case in the car.

Apart from the visitor center, there's a gift shop with a small restaurant right next to the dam with a great view of Lake Mead.
