The first settlement in Las Vegas (which is Spanish for The Meadows) was recorded back in the early 1850s when the Mormon church, headed by Brigham Young, sent a mission of 30 men to construct a fort and teach agriculture to the Indians. Las Vegas became a city in 1905 when the railroad announced this city was to be a major division point. Prior to legalized gambling in 1931, Las Vegas was developing as an agricultural area. Las Vegas' fame as a resort area became prominent after World War II.

Star Trek:
The Experience
You don't have to be a trekkie to love "Star Trek: The Experience", shown in the Las Vegas Hilton. It really deserves the title of The Experience because the ride is centered around a plot involving you! I won't spoil the experience by giving away the storyline, but we will tell you that it is much more than your average simulator ride. It's worth every penny of the USD 70 million spent by Paramount pictures and the Las Vegas Hilton. By the end of the ride you'll feel like you just graduated from Starfleet Academy.

You begin your visit by by strolling through an exhibit of Star Trek artifacts. There are Enterprise models suspended from the ceiling, costumes, weaponry, makeup and other toys used in the four Star Trek television series and eight motion pictures. In addition, you will find a time line giving you a complete overview of the history of the Star Trek universe.

Next is the actual simulator ride. The simulator's screens take up your entire field of view, so you won't see anything but the action. Another feature of the ride is that it is suspended on a six-axis platform like those used to train NASA.

After the ride, visitors can grab a bite at Quark's Bar and Restaurant where you can get drinks like a Vulcan Nerve Pinch Martini, Romulan Ale and a Riker-Rita. This is built inside a recreation of the promenade from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Location Las Vegas Hilton Hotel and Casino
