Dead Horse Point State Park

Introduction Empty Vital information Empty Phil's log

Dead Horse Point is perhaps Utah's most spectacular state park. Towering 2,000 ft (610 m directly above the Colorado River, Dead Horse Point provides a breathtaking panorama of Canyonlands' sculptured pinnacles and buttes. The visitor center, interpretive museum, modern rest rooms, 21-unit campground, sewage disposal station, group camping area, pavilion and large overlook shelter make Dead Horse Point comfortable and informative as well as spectacular. Dead Horse Point SP provides great views of the Colorado valley. Several viewpoints can easily be reached by short hikes on well prepared trails. Since the park is not too vast, you don't waste a lot of time driving from one attractive spot to another or hiking endless trails just to get to a viewpoint. It's a great destination for a half-day trip from Moab.
