Civilian Programs
Control of Occupational Violence (COV)
The COV program
deals with instances when a person feels intimidated by verbal
assault dealing with a spoken threat or is physically threatened
by an individual meaning to do them harm. It gives the participant
an understanding of why they may be perceived as a victim, the
means and the confidence to physically deal one-on-one against
an assailant in non-life threatening situations and evade or escape
injury.

Traveler’s Survival Skills (TSS)
The TSS program teaches frequent travelers skills
using items at hand to control, subdue and defeat an assailant
in hotels, on the street, in an airport or on board an aircraft
using non-lethal methods of personal protection.

Civilian Assistance Patrol and Civilian Operational Management (CAPCOM)
The
CAPCOM program is designed
specifically to assist unarmed civilian volunteer officers with
the rules of managing and dealing with physical engagements. To sufficiently address the situation, gain control until a certified
officer arrives and assist in the arrest process as a witness
against their assailant. This training methodology deals with
Level 1-3 Response. (8-hours of classroom and practical application)
A CAPCOM trained person better understands and is [prepared to deal
with verbal resistance, low level physical confrontation and resistance,
and to assist a certified officer in whatever areas may be required.
POLICE
& SECURITY PROGRAMS
Use
of Force & Levels of Resistance Matrix
It is the tactical goal of the USPDTA to provide
all student officers, officers, military and security personnel
with explicit guidance and help toward the decision making process
in the use of force. Whether the use of force is verbal or lethal
when engaging or disengaging a subject. Or when there is an escalation
or de-escalation of a confrontation leading to a lawful and defensible
action by the officer.

Military
Assault and Tactical Action (MATA)
The MATA program is designed to train military
Special Operation teams for assault and tactical operations
for urban warfare. This training is geared to active military
personal serving in international Tactical Response teams. The
training consists of armed and unarmed combat training to neutralize
opposition forces using empty hand methods, combat knife applications
and specialized weaponry for terminal applications.

Police
Unarmed Defense School (PUDS)
The PUDS training has been designed through implementation of Force/Levels
of Resistance Matrix using passive and active physical handling
measures handling an unarmed assailant. The officer will be trained
to recognize voice changes, body language, and physical changes
that may affect changing her/his level of tactics when dealing
with the suspect. These applications are levels 1 – 3 response.

Police
Tactical Assailant Control (PTAC)
The
PTAC training is designed
for assailant control through physical leverage, joint control
and manipulation, nerve center controls and through locking and
pressure control techniques to bring the assailant into a position
where she/he can be handcuffed without physical harm to the arresting
officer. These applications are levels 4 – 6 response.

Police Unarmed Tactical Team School (PUTTS)
The
PUTTS training is to
teach officers how to work in pairs to control singular or multiple
assailants through physical leverage, joint control and manipulation,
nerve center controls and through locking and pressure control
techniques without weapons or Oleoresin Capsicum use. These applications
are levels 4 – 6 response. (8 hours of classroom and practical
application) Officer Certification is awarded upon completion.

Unarmed
Force Education Deployment (UFED)
The UFED program is designed to teach officers areas of field personnel
deployment and positioning to handle an unarmed adversary. The
officer uses physical leverage, joint control and manipulation,
nerve center controls and through locking and pressure control
techniques without weapons or Oleoresin Capsicum use.
The officers response here is more aggressive in nature
and may lead to use of lethal force. These applications are levels
4 – 6 response. (4 hours of classroom and practical application)
Officer Certification is awarded upon completion.

Armed
Force Education Deployment (AFED)
The AFED program is the most useful field and classroom area of officer
training and can make the difference in life and death situation
for the officer in defense of her/his life. The use of deflection,
redirection, grappling, twisting breaks, locks, removal and maiming
applications are a Level 4-6 response.
(20 hours of classroom and practical application)
Officer Certification is awarded upon completion.
MARTIAL
ARTS TRAINING
Advanced
Combative Training (ACT)
The ACT program is a continuing education
program designed for intermediate and advanced physical unarmed
and armed combative training against adversaries using only empty
handed techniques such as strikes, blocks, kicks, takedowns and
throws to render the opponent unable to respond.
The
armed tactical training teaches an officer not only defensive
tactics against a variety of weapons – bludgeons, edged weapons,
guns and knives. The officer will be taught to deflect, re-direct
and deploy methods of unarmed combat and use of said weapons in
defense of her/his life. The techniques are also taught to teach
the officer how to retain and remove the adversary’s weapons.
This course is on going and consists of six (6) 3-hour evening
segments in six-week groups.
Intermediate ACT Training
(3 programs of 18-hours duration over a 6-week period.
Officer Certification is awarded upon completion.
Advanced ACT Training (3 programs of 18-hours duration
over a 6-week period). Officer Certification is awarded upon completion.
The
officer will be qualified as a Tactical
Arms and Combatives Trainer with the completion of the ACT
advanced courses.
