The USS-Griffon is in no way a new ship, on the contary, it survived the dominon war, being uprated numerous times, and having huge new science suites installed in the engeneering section, to allow it to carry out its role as an intelligence gathering ship, It has a low powered cloaking field built in, to allow it to hide from cardassian sensors, All these upgrades suit its Scientific roles perfectly, allowing it to get very detailed long range scans of ships and systems, as well as allowing the ship to get very close to pre-warp civilisations, and watch them without them detecting the ship, but it also helps the ship in conbat, giving it the edge over its attackers.

Due to the 2 extremely large hangar bays, that replaced the Galaxy class' 3 smaller hangar bays, the Nebula Class Can fit Many more shuttles in it than the galaxy could, and due to the relocation of key systems to Attachable mission pod, there is room to store various craft in compact storage form, which can be assembled in 20 miniutes, in spacious conditions.

The Normal Compliment for Shuttles/Fighters is as follows:

2 Uprated Danube class Runabouts, 2 type 9 shuttles, 2 Type 11 class, and an Argo class transport. with 3 type 8's+ 3 type 9's in storage

The Nebula, using the same Sauser Section as the Galaxy also has a Galaxy class Captains Yacht

Also, the secondary hanger, houses 6 Warhammer Class Medium Attack Fighters ,Both the Warhammer class attack Runabout, and The captain yacht can only be used with the express consent of the captain, the Warhammer's are generally used for escort of any dignatarys visiting the ship, or to aide any landing parties in distress, the Danube can be sent to pick them up, whilst the Warhammer blasts away at the attackers.

The type 11 shuttles are perfect for scientific reserch, and so, have been specially shipped to the Griffon for this perpouse, they have uprated sensor packages, and can provide better scans than the ship could, the type 9's are small, and are used for short interstellar flights, and can be borrowed by the crew whilst on shore leave,another bonus for being in starfleet. The Danube's are used for any long range missions which require more power and speed than the type 11 has to offer. The Captains Yacht is primerally used to ferry visiting dignitaries, it will usually be escorted by either the Warhammer fighters, or flanked by 2 Type 9's, to provide cover to the otherwise defenceless Yacht.
