Character History: |
Alara has grown up believing she is human, albeit with very strong intuition. She was raised by her father on a small southern plantation. In 2376, she found out that her mother was a Betazoid, and that her intuitive powers are inherited from her. Alara is just beginning to explore what she is capable of, and to use her powers more fully.
She attended StarFleet Academy as an act of rebellion against her father, but found that she excelled at her studies there. She has served at various posts on Earth and other planets, mostly in an ambassador capacity, where she was able to glean much useful information to pass on to her superiors. But she grew tired of such positions and sought her position as ambassador in 2377 onboard the USS Savage in Task Force One.
There, one of the most life changing events occured to her. One of the trill members of the ship, a counsellor, was killed by a rampaging wild animal onboard the Savage. The symbiont however survived but with no host immediately available, a surrogate host was required. Alara stepped into that role, but ended up permanantly bonded with the Corrs symbiont when the Trill ship carrying the replacement host was unfortunately delayed in getting to DS9 and the USS Savage.
The loss of a close friend when the USS Savage was destroyed left Alara somewhat stunned and distraught. She left Starfleet to take up Civilian work as a Counsellor, her own abilities along with the abilities recently gleaned from the Corrs symbiont made her perfect for the role. In 2379, Captain Richard Rees, her previous CO onboard the USS Savage, requested that she be the ships counsellor onboard the USS Vanquish, though in a civilian capacity only. This she accepted.
