By the year 2379 on the Human Calendar, the Federation had been through numerous exploits and toils, facing down adversaries from the Romulans and Klingons through to the current dangers of the Dominion and the Borg. With peace once more settling over the universe however, the Federation's voice in the universe, Starfleet, began to implement a number of initiatives to drive the Federation forward.

One such initiative was the Vanquish project. An experimental vessel of the greatest magnitude, the scientists of the Daystrom Institute, the Vulcan Science Academy and, of course, Starfleet, developed a brand new state of the art vessel that would mark the way forward for all future Starfleet vessels.

However, launched early from the San Francisco fleet yards in orbit of Earth, the first ship of the project, the USS Vanquish was to prove somewhat temperamental. Forced by circumstances though, the USS Vanquish was to remain in active service, continuing to perform the duties required of any Starfleet vessel. This is the story of the USS Vanquish and her crew, as they continue, despite the odds, to prove what they and the ship are worth.
