Blue 'Mad' Drongo Position: Chief Engineer Rank: Lieutnenant Commander Race: Human Age: 27 Gender: Male Place of Birth: Duckling Creek, Austrailia, Earth Character Appearance: Blue has a full head of blonde hair, some of it tightly bound into braids by blue or green ribbons. He has a mismatched pair of eyes, one a clear deep grey/blue, the other a mischevious blue/green. Character Personality: Blue gained his first name from his love of Bolian Rock and Roll. He gained his second during a Bolian Rock concert when he single handedly drank 16 cans of romulan ale, picked a head butting contest with a Klingon, and blew up 79 sparse generators when he short circuited the on stage amps during an attempt to achieve the universe's first 7 dimensional power chord. Mad. He earned the title genius when physists from the Vulcan Science Accademy came to the shocked conclusion that he had actually succeded. That is Blue in a nutshell. Scruffier than what the cat dragged in, more charming than Kirk on Brut, Madder than a camel with a fireant mound up its rectum, smarter than a Vulcan with his ears in a knot. Character History: Blue was raised on a small farm on the edge of the Australian outback as far from most kinds of technology as people can get. His folks weren't a backward sort, they just liked the simple life. When he was 4, his dad bought him a small repulsor sled for Christmas. His Uncle Vale bought him a small tool kit. By New Years, Blue had figured out how the sled worked, and modified it so that it now flew three times as high and fifty times as fast. He managed to put a hole the size of a mack truck in the family barn while testing it, but his parents were also patient folk and after they had rebuilt the barn, they let him keep his tools. The sled, however, was never seen again outside of a starfleet lab. By the time he was 14, he had his own shed, owned 13 patents, and was building his own warp capable craft. By the time he was 15 he had blown up the shed and everything within 300 yards but was sure he knew what he'd done wrong. At 17 his parents dispaired and sent him off to Star Fleet. They miss him, but the wildlife is relieved. While at Star Fleet he quickly discovered that the official style of engineering wasn't to his taste, and by the end of his first year he was flunking badly. At was at that point that his life took a sudden upswing, while drowning his sorrows in a San Fransisco bar, he met up with an old man in a very old uniform who changed his view of engineering. His name was Montgommery Scott. Blue took an instant shine to the man, who quite cheerfully drank the young Blue under the table, then helped him back to the campus. It wasn't until a week later that he found out who the new head of department was. Under Scott's tuition, Blue's natural skills were brought to the fore. A sort of mad savant, Blue discovered a natural affinity with machines, able to listen to the slightest variation in their performance. Once out of the accademy, he was sad to see the back of Scott, though no doubt they'll meet again. But active duty called and with it came new challenges. On board the USS Endeavour, he served first as an engineering Lieutenant (jg), though he was soon promoted to Lieutenant for his skill. Over the next 2 years, he learned the tricks of the trade, though he also earned a good many black marks for his unusual behaviour. That might have been enough to stop his advance had the Dominion War broke out. His skills were needed then, and field promotion gained him the rank of Lt after a hull breach in engineering killed most of the crewmen. He prevented the entire ship from venting through careful use of explosives to drop a wall flush against the hull and seal the breach. After that he served on the Endeavour for another year before being promoted again to Lt Commander and re-assigned to the new test ship Vanquish. He has spent these last few months trying to lick the ship into some form of order, still in his own unique way, and still with more than his fair share of explosions.
