Delicate in general appearance. Pale complexion, dark brown curly hair, hazel eyes, pixie-like face. Character Personality: She is serious about her work and career, and cares deeply for her crew. She often displays a calm, relaxed attitude, but under pressure goes cold rather then panicking. She believes there is a solution for every problem and has a very curious nature, which has finally led her out into space after years of working on Earth. Her off-hours are usually spent alone reading, in the Officers’ Lounge with members of her crew, or going for long scenic walks on the holodeck. Shore-leave she looks forward to seeing her brother Steve and his children, meeting up socially with the other command officers and old friends, and tries to sneak in some alone time with Captain Richard Rees, to whom she is married. Character History: Born and raised on Saturn, she had a very uneventful and secure childhood. Mathew Rayne, her father (a retired businessman) who now with her mother, Rose Rayne (a retired scientist), enjoys running a little jazz club for fun, not profit, on Saturn. Steve Rayne, her brother is owner of Rayne Terraforming, that he bought from his father. He was one of the first to exploit the business opportunities of the Gamma Quadrant, and has moved onto SB Esprit as soon as the commerce section was completed. This also keeps him close to Jasmine, which works out well for both of them to have family nearby. Jasmine always has felt the pull to duty and structured her studies to suit not only her strengths, but those needed as a prerequisite for Officer’s Training in Star Fleet. Her natural problem-solving abilities came into their own as she studied tactics, strategy and diplomacy at SF Academy. After graduation she was quickly assigned to a strategic unit on Earth during the war with the Dominion. Her quick thinking, insightful and decisive actions have saved countless lives. She was directly involved with one of the battles Captain Rees was in the front line for. They knew of each other through those urgent tactical and strategic updates and by the time they met on Deep Space Nine, they had a deep respect for each other’s work. This led to a romantic relationship that still continues in correspondence while they each Command their own vessel, and they try to schedule for shore-leave for the same time. Jasmine was feeling too restrained in her 'safe desk job' on Earth and two years after the end of the Dominion War, she accepted a commission as Executive Officer of the USS Ticonderoga. She craved to be 'on the front line', with the possibility of first contact situations, and she was not been disappointed. After six months with IGP as XO of Spacestation Juno, she became a certified trainer and now serves upon the USS Vanquish along beside her husband, Richard Rees, to whom she married with at the planet of Lysander VIII after being appointed her position on the Vanquish (end of Fire and Burn Part Two).
