Rebels Team Teal vs Rebels Teal White

This is not a fundraiser for the team; however, we will be playing the "post game," after the Sharks (approximately 10:15 pm). Which Rebels team? Well, actually, ALL of them. Even the goalies and officials are current or former Rebels.

Event Background
We had so much fun on Rebels' Night at the San Jose Giants during the summer of 2001, we thought it might be equally fun in trying to play a Rebels' Night team ice hockey game at the Compaq Center of San Jose (the arena and home ice for the San Jose Sharks).

This is not a fundraiser for the team; however, we will be playing the "post game," after the Sharks (approximately 10:15 pm). Which Rebels team? Well, actually, ALL of them. Even the goalies and officials are current or former Rebels.

A full team roster survey resulted on the following dates in this order: November 3rd, followed by March 9th, and December 28th. The guy who schedule things at the Arena informed us the November 3rd date was taken by two PHA teams as they had previously submitted a deposit to secure the date.

(Yes, a deposit. To hold the dates, we HAVE to pay $1,513 ASAP or 25 percent in value of tickets to be sold. Then, we have to sell 100 tickets (or 200 tickets if we put both teams on the ice) -- typically all tickets are at $32, but not always. The balance of the monies is due one month prior to game date.)

The Plan
Lorraine Walston, founder and captain of the San Jose Valenti Rebels, proceeded by confirming our INTEREST in the March 9th game. We submitted (25%) $1,513 to secure our game play date and began selling tickets immediately. We had 200 Tickets available as follows -- 150 at $32 each, and 50 at $25 each.

"Here's how we'll work this," advised Lorraine. "Assuming that some people will sell more tickets, we'll say that if you sell a minimum of 4 tickets, you have a spot to play. Goalies must sell tickets also!! If you sell fewer than 4 tickets, you can skate based on availability of spaces. I'll divide the teams up equally, and we should have a great game. All REBELS are welcome to play."

"Oh, and while they usually get the refs for these games through the usual system," Lorraine continued, "if we have our own USA Hockey-certified refs, we can use them. The refs will get paid, but I'm also going to ask that they help sell tickets."

(The Rebels have several players who are USA Hockey-certified as ice hockey referees: J.J. (Joanne) Nakaso, Cara Weitzsacker and Linda Mizak.)

Sold Out and Game On!
Rebels at Compaq Center "All of our 200 tickets are sold out," reported Lorraine. "There are no more available, at any price. The entire game is sold out - Period!"

"I will be putting together rosters for the 2 teams soon," revealed Lorraine. "If you did not sell tickets but would like to play, contact me now. We're at our limit, but people may cancel. If you did sell tickets, and for some reason would like to just watch, please tell me. If there is someone you desperately want to skate with (or against), tell me before I do the rosters."

(All skaters, goalies, and refs must have a ticket themselves to the Sharks game. If you can't get in to the building, you can't participate.)

The Sharks Game
The Rebels, with teams playing at Logitech Ice and Hockey WorkOut, both facilities located in San Jose, California, have sold 200 tickets to the following Sharks game:

Saturday, March 9, 2002 at 7:00 pm,
San Jose Sharks vs. Vancouver Canucks
