A full bench and a bye week had the Rebels flying!
Guy Fullerton filled in on one of the defensive positions and put in a
steller performance with an assist and a hooking call. The defensive unit
played with a little more patience than two weeks ago and moved the
puck to their forwards well, creating many breakouts and rushes up the
ice.
Lauren Lockwood gets the 1st star of the game for her two goal night.
Her first goal was caused when she batted in Fullerton's wrap around
chance as it lay beside the goalies' pads and gave the Rebels a quick 1 to
nothing lead. Her second goal came on a pretty pass from Sandra Todd
and beat the goalie to the top of his net as he spralled on the ice making
a 3-1 lead at that time.
John Gibbs made some sweet cross ice passes to create breakouts and
get the opposition going the wrong way, freeing up our centermen to fly
right up the center of the neutral zone.
A late goal on a bad bounce by Albondigas could not put a damper on the
Rebels as they came out hard and did not give up another quality scoring
chance for the rest of the game. Another strong game in goal by netminder
Paul Lloret as he gave his defensemen confidence to let him handle the
long shots and clear the puck agressively.
A flurry of shots at the Albondigas' empty net could not produce another
tally late in the third period.
