We had a great time, played hard, and made a lot of friends (amongst ourselves and on other teams). Again, you guys played GREAT, and you made me (and my mom) proud.

For those who weren't there, this is my view of what happened with the Valenti Rebels and their inaugural tournament in Seattle.

Game 1 - Our Debut

We played a little disconnected on Friday night. People were still meeting each other and we didn't quite know how to play like a team. Regardless, Amber got our team's first goal (yea, Amber!), but we lost 3-1.

Game 2 - Improvement Already

On Saturday, we played TWO ADVANCED teams. The first one was the host team, the Seattle Ice Breakers. They had one power skater, but we shut her down. Yea! Our game improved SIGNIFICANTLY over Friday night. We lost, but only 3-0, and the low score meant we knocked the home team out of first place. They made sure to tell us about that.

Game 3 - Frustration Factor

Our 3rd game, the one against Ms. Conduct, was fun. While we lost to them too, we frustrated them incredibly. Near the end of the 2nd period, the score was only 2-0. It didn't end that way (9-0 on 65 shots), but hey! It was only our 3rd game together.

What Did We Learn?

We made quite an impact on several players and teams. We have been cordially invited to return to Seattle next year for the 2nd annual tournament, and we've been asked to attend a separate tournament in Seattle, and a tournament in Portland, and of course, there's always Las Vegas! Dates and specifics to come later! The point is that we made a great impression on a lot of people. Oh, we also looked good out there. We would have won the "best dressed" award if they had one.

A personal note:
I want to say once more how much I appreciate all of you wanting to be a part of this team, and this dream. We worked hard in Seattle, and it showed. I firmly believe that with regular team practices and scrimmages, we WILL bring home trophies at the next tournament. We've got the talent!

GREAT job, my friends! See you all soon....
