Of the 5 teams competing, 3 were all guys, one had one lady and we had all lady Rebels plus Roger (the thorn among the roses !!) skating out, plus Tim in goal.

Game 1 - Rebels at Chiefs (3:30pm)

We started off losing 5-0 to the Chiefs -- but we were just learning the rules. No icing, no offside, no face-off after a goal is scored, no stoppages for anything !! And -- if you commit a penalty, you don't sit -- the other team gets to take a penalty shot when the game is over !!

Game 2 - Rebels vs Guiness (4:10pm)

Our second game was a 5-2 loss to Guiness, goals scored by Roger and Mary Beth.

Game 3 - Rebels at Jets (5:20pm)

Then we played the Jets and lost 5-1 (Mary Beth scored our penalty shot).

Game 4 - Rebels at Individuals (6:30pm)

The win over the Individuals was 4-2 with goals by Roger, Shann, me (game winner) and Roger again. We only committed 2 fouls in the whole tournament, and our goalie stopped both subsequent penalty shots.

This one win in our fourth game of the tournament knocked out the Individuals, and put us into the 3rd/4th place final match.

Game 5 - Rebels at Chiefs (7:20pm)

Our best game was the last one for 3rd place. We played the Chiefs again, and the game ended 0-0 !! Unfortunately, we lost on penalty shots.

Editor's note: The tournament rules declared if a game ended in a tie, a sudden death penalty shot shoot-out would determine the winner of the game.

What Did We Learn?

An unbiased spectator (my husband, Jack) said we outplayed the Chiefs, and deserved the 3rd place spot.

We all had a great time playing, and were extremely tired when it all finished. As usual, we were the best dressed team there by a very large margin!! 3 on 3 is fast paced -- lots of skating and shooting, with very little time to think.
