Schedule of Synchronous Online Activities
Hello,
This message is to anyone requesting to join our the TESOL EVOnline session Webheads in Action: Community formation online and its role in language learning.
All the TESOL EV Online sessions are collecting participants from now until January 25, when the sessions are supposed to actually get under way. This means that for the next two weeks, we will be getting organized and getting to know each other. After that we will follow the syllabus given at: http://www.vancestevens.com/papers/evonline2002/webheads.htm
The first step is to enroll everyone in our YahooGroups listserv. To do that I can enroll you or you can enroll yourself. It’s preferable if you can do it, and it’s also easy.
All you have to do is SEND email FROM the address you want to enroll TO evonline2002_Webheads-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
If you succeed in doing that, then you will receive emails we all send to the listserv addressed to: evonline2002_Webheads@yahoogroups.com
I’ll track on our website (first url above) who’s successfully enrolled and who’s not and assist anyone having any trouble. Once we’ve got everyone on board, we’ll start building our community and learning how to function within it.
There is a lot to explain, but at the outset I would like to say ...
- There are no minimum competencies for this session (other than ability to use an Internet connected computer). That is, if you can participate in text chat but can’t broadcast a web cam – or if some of the things we do on PC don’t work on MAC or visa versa – you can still participate, to whatever degree you are comfortable with.
- We will explore many means of building a community, but all are optional.
- I only expect you to participate with whatever time and expertise you have or are able to develop, and to enjoy yourself. There’s a lot of help in a community, and also an understanding that the most advanced person in the group was once at the level of the most novice.

- This session is modeled on ‘Writing for Webheads’ a community that has been in existence for 3 years, and which you are welcome to join if you like.
