Welcome Back Students!
I look forward to working with both parents and students during the 2009-10 school year. Allow me to introduce myself. This will be my 29th year of teaching high school English. I taught at Orange County High School for five years and this is my 24th year at CHS. I also taught freshman composition for PVCC for five years. This year I am also serving as the English Department Chair at the high school. I developed the AP Language and Composition class for CHS fourteen years ago, and I have served as a reader for grading the exam in Daytona Beach for the past six years. I am currently acting as an Advanced Placement consultant for the College Board. I grew up in Northern Virginia and earned a degree in English and Philosophy from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg. I then continued my education at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., earning an M.A. in English Language and Literature. I have lived in Charlottesville since 1979. I have twin sons: Jason, who graduated from the School of Music at James Madison University, and Justin, who graduated from Cornell University and the College of William and Mary. They are both CHS graduates (and my former students!). I am deeply committed to public eduation in the city of Charlottesville.
