SEND YOUR KID TO THE ELECTRIC CHAIR!
Yes,
dads, you can do just that and more in Singapore. Here's where and how…
You're
are tired of shopping centres, visited the zoo, the Bird Park, gone
to Bintan, watched all the PG movies there are… What else is there to
do with the kids? Take your child to the Singapore Science Centre! They've
revamped several of their sections, upgraded the front of the building,
added some neat, very interactive outdoor exhibits (and yes, Ronnie
McDonald is there too, selling ice cream at 50cents).
All the
different areas - IT, Man and the Environment, Aviation, Mathemagic
and more - are very good. Exhibits are easy to use, attractive, well
explained (you may need to re-explain some things in simpler language
if your child is very young) and they make you think a little more.
Best of all, your child can touch, feel and play his way through textured
experiences.
The Electric
Chair is one of very few exhibits which you have to pay to try (you
need 2 fifty-cent coins for the machine) - but it is worth it, and not
just for the 'sensational' factor alone. You could carry on with a discussion
on the how and why of the electric chair.
If you
still have energy left, go try the Snow City - $35 for an hour of fun
for the whole family. They will loan you boots, jacket, the whole winter
works. Snow City is next to the Science Centre; call 560 0179 for details.
The Singapore
Science Centre is at Jurong East; buses 66, 178, 198 and 335 go
there. Call 425 2500 or check out their website www.sci-ctr.edu.sg
for more details.
