The Parthenon
What a climb, we've reached the top of the Acropolis. Look how the majestic Parthenon rises above the city, its ancient glory still visible in the time-worn stone. It is the largest building on the Acropolis and one of the world's most awe-inspiring, man-made sights. Except for its roof, which was made of wood, the Parthenon was entirely constructed of marble.

The Maidens
To the left of the Parthenon is the Erechteion, built on the site of the legendary contest between Athena and Poseidon, the temple was a shrine to Athena and the twin deity Poseidon-Erechtheus. It's most distinctive feature is the ingenious design of the six support columns on the south side carved in the shape of maidens.
