The Parthenon |
What a climb, we've reached the top of the Acropolis. Look how
the majestic Parthenon rises above the city, its ancient glory still visible
in the time-worn stone. It is the largest building on the Acropolis and one of the world's
most awe-inspiring, man-made sights. Except for its roof, which was made of wood,
the Parthenon was entirely constructed of marble.

The Maidens |
To the left of the Parthenon is the Erechteion, built
on the site of the legendary contest between Athena and Poseidon,
the temple was a shrine to Athena and the twin deity Poseidon-Erechtheus.
It's most distinctive feature is the ingenious design of the six
support columns on the south side carved in the shape of maidens.
