The Plaka nestled below the northern slope of the Acropolis, is the historic heart of Athens. Even though only a few buildings date back farther than the Ottoman period, it remains the oldest, continually inhabited area in Athens. Cars are banned from most of the area because of its narrow and winding streets. The Plaka is peaceful and serene by day but its clubs, bars and taverns are hopping at night. Everything is jimdandy with us as we browse the shops looking for just the right gift to buy.

The National Archaeological  Museum has one of the world's finest
The Horse With The Little Jockey
and largest collections of ancient Greek art. When it was opened in 1891, the museum brought together a collection that had previously been stored all over the city. Two of the most important finds -- the bronze Poseidon pulled from the sea and the bronze statute The Horse With The Little Jockey can be seen here.
