| The Elevator Shaft Leave your brain at home and this ride can be a real killer. I parked at the base of the trail and rode up the gravel road to the trailhead. The trail starts with an intense climb loaded with loose gravel and tight switchbacks. Once you reach the top, the first part of the trail looks great. Dropping in is quite a humbleing experience. The trail drops steep very quick on very loose rocks and is loaded with tight switchbacks. Don't forget your body armor, you'll need it for this ride. The trail soon mellows out to a double black diamond soon after the initial drop in. This is where my front tire fell victim to the trail sending me superman style another 15 feet. After a 4 foot cliff the trail ends in a series of deep whoops. If you like a challenge, or maybe have some suicidal tendancies this is your ride. Directions: >95 south to Boulder City >Left on Yucca st. (no light) >Drive through rock quarry and follow signs to MNTB trails >Park at the mouth of the canyon >Maps are in a mailbox on a telephone pole |
