My name is Belinda, and yes, I met the man of my dreams on the
Internet.
I was staying at my sister's back in December, 1998. At the time she was doing an I.T. course so she had a new computer and a passion for the Internet... she seemed to be on-line 24/7. She enjoyed ICQ and introduced it to me... I took it on board without hesitation and before too long, found my self chatting away well into the nights I was there.
Then I started messaging to Nick, a guy around my age who lived in New Zealand (I was and still am in Australia). We managed to talk for hours at a time, sometimes from 7pm-7am with no hassles - tiredness was ignored.
Our on-line relationship developed to the point where I missed him like hell when we weren't in contact. We had confessed our love for eachother... but he was there and I was here. It was too painful so we lost contact.
About a year later, I received a message on my mobile phone from
Nick... I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!! He was calling to tell me that he was getting ready to move to Australia, Queensland in fact. I decided that I'd go up there for New Years (it was the 1999-2000 New Years so I wanted to make it a big one). I booked my ticket to QLD but it was months before I was due to jet off. We spoke often on the phone but it wasn't enough... it was tough!!
During one of our phonecalls HE PROPOSED and I said YES!!!! I got retrenched from my job, which was the only thing keeping me in Melbourne, so I brought the date forward for my flight to as soon as I could leave - which turned out to be a month earlier than it would've been had I kept the original date... MY LOSING MY JOB WAS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE!!
The story of meeting at the airport and the feelings I eperienced before, during and after the flight are another story in itself.
When I first set my eyes on him at the airport, I melted... he was my dream man.... GORGEOUS!!!
To cut a long and enthusiastic story short, we spent 2 months living in QLD then he followed me home to Melbourne where we still live today. We intend to marry but haven't set a date yet. I love him with all my heart and I am secure in the thought that the feeling is mutual. I can't wait to live
our future together. I am so inspired by our relationship and how it came about that I am keen to write a book on the subject to share my wonderful story and inspire others to have faith in the fact that it can happen.
I hope you enjoyed my story!! I sure enjoyed living it.
Belinda
