Personal History: Ross spent his childhood in foster homes and does not know, nor is he interested in, his true parentage. He spent high school with one family in Victoria and, through scholarships and work, left town and put himself through university, eventually ending up back in Victoria teaching Political Science at UVic. He and Laidey met by chance and lived together before marrying two years after the birth of their daughter.
