MISSION STATEMENT
The Anti-Violence Project of Victoria's
mission is the prevention and elimination of violence and hate speech against
lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people and their communities.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
1. Identification of the nature, causes
and extent of violence and hate speech against the gay, lesbian, bisexual
and transgender (GLBT) communities.
2.Develop, prioritise and evaluate strategies
to prevent, minimise and ultimately eliminate such violence and hate speech.
3. Engage with the wider community to effect
social, cultural and institutional change.
4. The mobilisation and empowerment of
the GLBT communities to counter violence and hate speech and to assert
and defend their right to safety.
5. Implementation and evaluation of programs,
strategies and campaigns to promote community safety, raise awareness of
and counter violence and hate speech against the GLBT communities.
6. Monitoring violence against the GLBT
communities and providing information, advocacy and referral services to
survivors of violence.
7. Identification of the nature, causes
and extent of violence within the GLBT communities and strategies to prevent,
minimise and ultimately eliminate it.
8. Raise money, employ staff and enter
into other financial arrangements as may be appropriate.
