Muzino® Wave Precision 3
This top-notch light-weight trainer is perfect for racing and fast pace training, but I
use it for every-day training. The heel is not cushioned as well as the Asics® GEL® Verdict DS,
but I find the forefoot better cushioned. Unless you are a heel striker that is the way it should be.
If you are a heel striker, then you should probably look for a different style shoe. Support and lateral
rigidity is minimal, less than the Verdict, so only choose this shoe if you have a neutral stride or
suppunate slightly. Forefoot flexibility could be better. Currently, this is my shoe of choice for
most of my runs...especially on my longer and faster runs.

Asics GEL® Verdict DS
Here is another light weight trainer that you will want to wear daily, not just when racing. It is more
cushioned in the heel than the Muzino Precision, but also provides more lateral rigidity. It is therefore more
suitable for someone with a more neutral stride, and possibly one who over pronates ever so slightly. People
familiar with the GEL® Lite DS will recognize the bottom of this shoe: it appears and rides exactly like the
version of two years ago. The only difference being the upper, which has been replaced with an extremely
comfortable slipper. This new upper has a lot of stretch, fits well, and can be snuggly yet comfortably secured
with the laces that attach to something that looks like an exoskeleton. If you don't like the idea of running
in a slipper, then see if you can find an old GEL® Lite DS. It will have the same ride, but the fit will
be more traditional.

Asics GEL® Nimbus III
I generally find this shoe too heavy for me. It is extremely well cushioned, even for a heavy runner, and
provides a significant amount of lateral stiffness and support. So even though I rarely reach for this shoe, when
I am tired from a previous hard run and going out for a few easy miles on a dirt road, this shoe fits
the bill. If you are a lighter runner (less than 150 lbs.) then I would recommend the Verdict, Cumulus, or
Prelus over this shoe. If you are of larger frame, have a neutral stride or over-pronate slightly,
and are willing to dish out a few more buck, then this will probably work well as your every day trainer.

Asics GEL® GT 2070
This is a decent shoe for anybody looking for a support shoe that can take the milage. This will control
mild-to-moderate pronation and still provides some decent cushioning. Forefoot cushioning and flexibilty is also good.
Unfortunately, the tongue seems to be poorly designed and tends to bite into the top of the foot, making
the foot sore. The good news is that this breaks in after about 75 miles, so you will get 200 to 300
pain-free miles out of this shoe. I'd give this a recommendation of +3 if it didn't have the problem with
the tongue.

Asics GEL® DS Trainer VII
The DS Trainer sets the standard for a light weight support shoe. It is a good light
weight companion to the 2070. It is light enough to be used in 5 and 10K's, but has enough
support and heel cushioning for your long training runs and marathons. Forefoot flexibility is
great, but I would prefer a bit more forefoot cushioning.
