Societies dedicated to Jules Verne
Jules Verne will later be known as the "father of modern/science fiction" but when the SAJV series takes place, he's still just a "kid". Young, passionate, and above all idealistic, Jules is sometimes so enthralled by the wonders he sees around him that he forgets little things . . . like not walking down (or past) dark alleyways, which have been the cause of an incredible amount of the trouble that sometimes follows him around like . . . well, like any of the members of these societies.
Unlike the agents of ill-will (better known as the League of Darkness, or SFC programming), however, these societies were created to give Jules moral, spiritual, and physical support. When our obsessive attentions aren't sending him screaming in fear, that is. But it's all in fun -- he knows we just want what's best for him. And that the ones who really need to be afraid are the bad guys.
SAVV -- The Society Against Viciousness to Verne
Purpose: To prevent anyone (including his friends) from harming Jules. (Very difficult to do when he picks fights with his friends, stands in front of dark alleys, or comes to the assistance of his friends. We love him all the same!) |
VVA -- Verne's Virgin Avengers
Purpose: To comfort Jules when he starts to feel a bit down about not having found true-love yet, and to stand up for him when people refuse to believe in his "pure virility". Purity of heart and mind are requirements; purity of body is optional. ;-) |
