Societies dedicated to Phileas Fogg
Phileas, ah, Phileas. How we love thee -- flaws and all! Phileas embodies all of the things women seem to be drawn to: he is a gentleman, an aristocrat, a gambler, a rake, an adventurer, and (most important of all) a wounded soul. While there is still lively debate States-side about whether his relationship with his cousin, Rebecca Fogg, is more than affection and will -- or should -- evolve into a romance, one thing everyone agrees on is that Phileas needs someone to take care of him. Especially when he's so busy taking care of everything and everyone else. That, naturally, is where his societies comes in.
These societies were created to give Phileas moral, spiritual, and physical support -- whether he likes it or not. Society members have taken on responsibilities that range from massage to manicure, and from rescue to balancing his cheque-book. And hedonist that he is, we like to think that Phileas doesn't object quite as strenuously as he claims to do.
PSPS -- Phileas' Sanity Protection Society
Purpose: Well, the name does say it all....to attempt to preserve and protect what sanity Phileas Fogg has left. Very difficult when the producers and writers insist upon heaping more and more angst upon the poor man! |
FFF -- Fogg's Femmes Feroces
Purpose: To fiercely and FEROCIOUSLY defend and protect Fogg from losing himself to despair, ennui, or drink! Just as Passepartout is his "pass everywhere", his "skeleton key" to the world, FFF will be his REFUGE from it! |
