Victorian Festival Week 2002

All Week

Treasure Hunt for all ages based on and around the Vintage Victorian Railway, Children’s colouring competition and best dressed Victorian shop window.

Sunday 28th July

At 1.15  Queen Victoria and her Royal household will arrive at Kings Station (Tywyn Wharf) by a steam hauled train. After being received and greeted, the Queen will lead a procession to the Royal Garden Party which will commence at 2:30pm.At 2:45pm a Sunday school outing by special Train will leave Wharf for the after noon, in the evening travel in the Vintage Train at 730 for an evening entertainment at Abergynolwyn listen to the Local Dysynni Choir.

Monday 29th July

At 10:0am.  Leave Wharf Station by train to Nant Gwernol or meet There at 10:55am for a guided walk to the remains of the Bryn Eglws quarry,from 1:00 to4:00 visit the Corbett Arms for a Victorian Tea and Croquet demomstation

Tuesday 30th

From 10:45am to 4:0pm   Abergynolwyn Station there will be a Victorian Craft Fair which will be officially opened by HM Queen Victoria.In the evening for those in Victorian costume, a Victorian Vintage train will leave Wharf at 7:15 for Abergynolwyn,and for those who chose modern dress a second train will depart at 7:30 a veritable music feast `awaits you by Seindorf Arian Abergynolwyn Silver Band.

Please note prizes are to be awarded for various categories of Victorian costume and ages.

Wednesday 31st July

At 10:00am  Leave Tywyn Wharf Station by train to Nant Gwernol or meet there at 10:55 am for a guided walk to the remains of the Bryn Eglwys quarry. At 11:00 the best dressed Victorian window will be judged and prizes awarded. In the afternoon attend the Welsh Tea at Neuadd Pendre listen to the Wurlitzer Organ,Welsh Harps Welsh singing.

Thursday 1st August

From 10:45 to 4:0  At Abergynolwyn there will again be a Victorian Craft Fair your chance to get that extra gift you missed on Tuesday.

At 7:45 pm  You can enjoy a musical evening of impromptu entertainment Victorian style by "TRAMPS"-The Talyllyn Railway Musical Players Society at Neaudd Pendre.

Friday 2nd July

From 10:00 am until 4:00pm  Take guided tours through the Narrow Gauge Museum at Wharf Station see the new Colonial war displays.

At 12:55   Meet at Dolgoch Station for a family picnic-picnics may be ordered n advance at catering dept Wharf Station,

At 6:00pm       Treasure Hunt and Colouring Competitions winners will be announced and prizes distributed.

Saturday August 3rd

A Country and Craft Fair will be held at Neaudd Pendre open from 10:00 until 4:0 Your opportunity to see some of the country craftsmen and working machinery of the Victorian era.

The Festival organisers respectfully request that as many people as possible please dress in Victorian costume-we can help with advice and perhaps more! participate with us and help make it a week to remember.
