Belize Zoo
The brochure for the Belize Zoo says "It's not just a
zoo, it's a have for wildlife. EStablished in 1983 when 17 animals were
left from the filming of a natural history documentary. The zoo has
since grown and today hosts over 100 animals, all native to Belize, in
their natural habitat. ... Each animal at the zoo has a unique story!
Because of a strict rule that no animal can ever be taken from the
wild, all zoo residents were either people's pets that were docated to
the zoo, injured and brought in for healing and rehabilitation, born at
the zoo, or sent to the zoo from another zoological facility." The
Belize Zoo is at mile 29 on the Western Highway, as easy drive and an
excellent tour for cruise ship visitors.
