The Church of St John Baptist, Claines.

Claines is a small village just 3 miles to the north-west of Worcester and was the home village of Elgar's maternal grandparents, Joseph and Esther Greening. His mother, Ann, was also born at Claines.

As a young boy, living above his father's music shop in the centre of Worcester, Elgar would often borrow music scores from the shop and walk the three miles to Claines parish church to sit beside the grave of his grandparents and study the scores. Although he never met his maternal grandparents - they died some years before his birth - this was often a place of pilgrimage and quiet for him to spend a fine summer's day.

The grave can be seen near to the gate and boundary wall at the south-east corner of the churchyard.
