Rama Rao, is an ardent devotee of Bhagwan
Sri Sathya Sai Baba. A distinguished exponent of both the classical and
popular forms of Indian Music, Rama has repeatedly enthralled her listeners
with technical virtuosity, voice culture and range. Having
received her inital training from her guru Doraiswamy Naidu in Nellore,
Rama graduated with a diploma in Caratic Music from Andhra Pradesh Music
Board. She futher honed her skills under the tutelage of the
mastero
Dr S.Ramanathan of Kalakshetra, Madras.
Over
a span of fifteen years Rama has performed widely in all major cities of
Australia and is a veteran of well over two hundred concerts. In addition
to Telugu, she can sing with ease in different languages: HIndi, Tamil,
Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, and Marathi. Rama
has pioneered the provision to provide this support to Kuchipudi and Bharat
Natyam concerts in Australia. Rama has realased two devotional music albums:"Sai
Ravali" and "Swaptagiri Swaralu" .
Before
immigrating to Australia, Rama was a performing artiste with the All India
Radio. Her concerts have been telecast by both the Melbourne and Madras
television stations. In recents times, she accompanied the legendary T.M.
Soundarajan, the icon of Tamil popular music, in his Melbourne and Sydney
music concerts.
Rama
has been honoured by the Dravida Cultural Association &
Telugu Association of Australia Inc. for her meritorious
service to the community at large through music. She has initiated and
actively participated in anumber of music and dance concerts for charity.
She
is the founding director of the Krishna Ravali School of Carnatic Music.
Rama is a Senior Research Chemist by profession and the mother
of two children.
