Just when you thought there was nothing new to do in GeoCities, Yahoo comes up with a surprise. Recently, homesteaders began to be invited to categorize their pages in a new Yahoo database. You can put up to three pages in the database. Sadly, you can't have three pages that are named the same thing (index), even though they're in different folders. Makes a horrible mess. Even when you do things right, the URLs and descriptions seem to be in danger of getting mixed up. I'm hoping it will straighten itself out without my having to do anything too strenuous.
At any rate, the last neighborhood database is still in place, too, so I went on a bit of a search for some decent RealAudio sites in both areas, and came up with two decent places for you to visit.
Masterpiece Brass Quintet is a clearly and cleverly laid out site, with brass instrument graphics to guide surfers through its links. The site owners have built a good collection of RealAudio files of their playing, and it is well worth your time to listen to them. Residents of Louisville, Kentucky, the band has been around since 1983, and from the sounds of it will be together for many more.
Hear Choirs is an amazingly huge site of links to sites with RealAudio files of their choirs. Many of the sites also have wav and mp3 files links. I took the time to visit the Norwegian Music site and listened to "Kandu glemme ganele Norge." No idea what it means, something about Norway, no doubt, and perhaps glamorous candy. It sounded beautiful, though. The links on the site don't have targets, so I advise holding down your shift key when you click a link so you don't lose the hearchoirs homepage.
Have fun visiting these sites. Don't forget to visit http://geocities.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/hood/geo?hood=Vienna and the new Member Pages. Surely there are many more sites worthy of visiting, and perhaps you'll let us know about them, eh?
