Choose one feature from each of the following pairs:

i)                   Wave-cut platform or coastal spit;

ii)                Hanging valley or terminal moraine;

iii)              Limestone gorge or river terrace.

 

For each of these features you have chosen:

a)     Illustrate its main characteristics with annotated diagrams and/or contoured sketch-maps.

b)    Account for its formation

a) On the sketch, identify the features A, B and C and label two other features.

                                                            (5 marks)

b)  Name an area of the Maltese coastline which is characterised by similar features.  (this is adapted to the Maltese situation).  

(2 marks)

c)  Explain the characteristics of chalk (in our case limestone), which encourage the formation of the features shown.                         

(4 marks)

d)  Describe, with the aid of diagrams, the processes which have led to the formation of features A, B and C.
