The Captain of the Celeste Team (Uruguayan National Team), he had to sustain a real tour de force between qualification to the World Cup and Juventus engagements. In spite of that he succeeded in bringing his important contribution to the Juve defence that, for two years, came out to be the best in Serie A.

Determination and aggressiveness are only two of the Uruguayan's skills. He is rightly considered one of the best central defenders in the world. Paolo always gives his all on the pitch but sometimes his enthusiasm has been known to get him into trouble.

His father played in two World Cups and for Montevideo giants Nacional (Uruguay). His favourite dish is asado (regional speciality). His favourite top model is Laetitia Casta.
