Vitomir Padovan was born on April 19th 1970 in Mostar - his mother Antonija's native town but he was there for a few days. In Korcula he had finished first seven classes of Elementary school and like his father Egon had trained in water polo. Vito says that he started to swim very late, when he was 7-8 years old because he was afraid of the water. Other kids from islands start to swim when they are 3-4 years. He had to train very hard and soon became one of the best swimmers. Today, when he doesn't train for more than two days, he feels weak and he needs to jump into the water. It's a habit because he spends more than six hours every day in the swimming pool and feels strange not being around water for a long period.
When he was nearly 13 he moved to Belgrade when his parents found a job there.  He soon became the member of the Yugoslav National Team. Aged 15 he was the youngest player. At age 19 he participated in the European Championship in Bonn. Playing for Partizan- club from Belgrade, he was awarded three Championships, three Cups, Cup Winners Cup and one Super Cup. As a member of the Yugoslav Junior National Team he won European Junior Championships in 1987 and 1988, World Championship in 1989.

The same year he was awarded the silver medal in European Championship in Bonn as a member of Yugoslav Senior National Team.
1991 they won World and European Championship. In Belgrade he finished his school and started to study Tourism at college. During the second half of 1991 Vito Padovan went to Italy where he was playing water polo next five years for the clubs in the second league. From Belgrade he went to Trieste where he was playing for a year, then three years in Brescia. Last year in Italy he's been playing in Como.
After being a member of the strongest world's National Team - Yugoslavia, he became a player of the second Italian league.
"I needed to start from beginning and it was a strange change. People started to behold me differently. But I was young and adapt on that very easy"-says
Vito Padovan.

During 1996 he was playing for Neptunes on Malta. After that he accepted invitation to compete for Mladost from Zagreb.
Due to four year career in Mladost, the best season was 98/99 when they won Croatian Cup, Cup Winners Cup and Championship of Croatia. On
September 1999 as a member of Croatian National Team Vito won silver medal in Firenza, in the European Championship. Final match Croatian water polo players had lost against Hungarians with score 12-15. On the May 2000 water polo players from Mladost HPB won the silver medal on the 'Final Four' competition in Becej (Yu) after lost final match. From the September 2000 Vito is successfully competing for Olympic from Nice, French Elite A club, multi-champion of France.
