Songs Of Rahel

Shade is pulled over my head
As evening introduces the night
The dissipating scent of solar heat
fills my nostrils
To roam the darklands
Cool and silent, the moon is here
I wake

My haven trickles and echoes
Sounds lost to the day world
Twinkling stars focus their strength
And in greying vision
Their beauty is unsurpassed
I walk

With each step the frosted grasses crunch
As if on exaggerated sand-paper
Trees are animated in mixed shadows
And flowers have lost their power
The night takes over
I hunt

Thirst holds my mouth open
And my body lightens with each movement
Energy wavers within
The search must begin
For peace, I await disturbance
I find

Circulating warmth of the living
Thick red syrup tantalizing
Flesh promising perfect resistance
Euphoric hopes grip
And I am at mercy
I hold

The moment of waiting has ended
Giving in, time stands still as my fangs sink
Sweetness pours forth with unyielding urgency
My body shakes
Beholding the depth of the living
I life

The motionless figure lays limp in my arms
For a moment we become one
Under winded leaves I kneel and offer the undead
The velvet shadows lend sanctuary
Until the dead subsists
I subsist.
