To My Father
The
deep sorrow that I feel
That
you will not bestow your pride
In
all that I believe
To
choose this life of mine
My
heart is deep with wounds
Of
never doing right
The
path I've always chosen
Has
left you sunken in strife
To
guide me to direction
Of
the 'right' that I must lead
I'm
lost in worlds of heaven*
I'm
found by my own steed
I
hope that you will see me
As
the daughter you have grown
Not
to follow in your wanted vision
I'm
afraid of what it shows
But
in my grateful sadness
I
face and fear your heart
That
you will be disappointed
And
take away what should be ours
This
is a plea for understanding
And
a strength of love beyond
What
until now we haven't experienced
That
until now we've been fighting to bond
To
shed that yearned approval
That
aches my bones to move
To
walk on roads not taken
In
hopes to build anew
Please,
lets hold hands
And
share our triumphs
As
different as they may seem
Our
blood must hold us together
Let
our dreams live in harmony |
