Comments: No more than two players from the same country were
invited. Rosskopf(World's #6) and Samsonov(World's #16) are both
playing in the German leagues and couldn't get the time off to play in the
tournament. Peter Karlsson (World's #12), Jorgen Persson (World's #14)
from Sweden, and Calin Creanga from Greece (World's #22) also
couldn't make it. Jean-Philippe Gatien from France (#7) is sick and
cancelled on 12/28/95. Yoo Nam Kyu cancelled because of sickness.
Yang Min cancelled, replaced by Cheng Yinghua. Johnny Huang had a back
injury.
World champion Kong Linghui and World's #1 Wang Tao (both China) are the only
two players who needed an entrance visa. Due to the US government
shut-down, they were not been able to obtain it. Sigh!
