Women's Over 40 Soccer League Rules

PLAYERS

  1. All players must either be at least 40 years of age or be turning 40 years of age in the calendar year in which they are playing.
  2. The regulation playing team consists of 6 players including the goalie.
  3. The minimum number of players required to play is 5.

PLAYER'S UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT

  1. Shirts must be of uniform color with numbers on the back. If the visiting team shirt color is similar to that of the home team, the home team must change colors or use pinnies.
  2. Shin guards are required.
  3. Braces must be covered.
  4. Metal cleats are not allowed.
  5. Jewelry is not allowed.

FIELD AND GOAL SIZE

  1. Recommended by BAYS for Under-17, 6 vs 6 games:
  2. Teams are encouraged to follow the BAYS recommendations if possible. 8 v. 8 size fields and goals may be used if BAYS recommendations cannot be met. field size: 70 yards long v. 50 yards wide. Goal size: 18 feet wide, 6 feet high

HOME TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. The home team must provide a lined field in reasonable playing condition, goals with nets, corner flags or cones, a game gall, and a certified referee.
  2. The home team will confirm the field location and game time with the visiting team before the day of the game.
  3. If a game cannot be played for any reason (either location), the home team must notify the visiting team at least 1 1/2 hours prior to the game time. If the visiting team must travel a long distance, a longer advanced notice time is necessary.
  4. If a game cannot be played as scheduled, the home team will attempt to reschedule the game at a mutually agreeable time and place.

PLAYING SEASONS

  1. The Spring Season will extend from April to mid-June, and the Fall Season from the Sunday after Labor Day to late November. Games will not be played on Easter, Memorial Day weekend, or Columbus Day weekend.
  2. Games will be scheduled for 10 weeks every season. However, weather conditions may not allow all games to be played, especially in the fall.
  3. Each team will be scheduled to play an equal number of home games and away games.

LEAGUE MANAGEMENT

  1. Management of the league will rotate alphabetically by town name each calendar year. Teams which have been in the league less than one year or which do not feel comfortable in this management role will be bypassed.
  2. The duties of the league manager include scheduling and organizing the league meetings, producing playing schedules for each season, and serving as a focal point for all league matters.
  3. A meeting of all the teams in the league will be held at least two weeks before the beginning of the spring season. Additional meetings may be called before the fall season or any other time when important matters need to be resolved by the league.
  4. Potential new teams will be considered for membership by the entire league at a league meeting.
