Women's Over 40 Soccer League Playing Rules
- FIFA rules apply unless otherwise stated below.
- A game consists of two 35-minute halves.
- Slide tackling is not allowed.
- There is no "off-sides" rule.
- Penalty kicks will be taken from 12 yards directly in front of the goal if full-size goals are used. If small goals are used, the distance will be 8 yards.
- On goal kicks or on goalie saves followed by a throwout or punt, the ball must touch the ground or be touched by any player in the defensive half of the field. Infringement of this rule will result in loss of the ball to the other team. Play will restart with an indirect kick at the midfield line nearest the point of contact.
- Player substitutions may be made at the following times after obtaining permission from the referee:
- On a goal kick.
- After a goal has been scored.
- At half time.
- On offensive throw-ins. However, if the offensive team makes a substitution, the other team may also do so.
- At the time of an injury, the injured player(s) may be replaced. The opposing team is entitled to an equal number of substitutions.
Player substitutions may not be made on corner kicks.
